Red Embedded is looking for a Senior Consultant to fulfill a challenging and interesting, permanent role. The role requires a passion for technology and a desire to grow in knowledge.

The role will be a dynamic mix including strategic research, design and development and integration. The role will suit someone who is able to multi-task and deliver against agreed goals.

Although the role is technical an appreciation of the business impact of all work is essential both from Red Embedded and the customer's point of view.

You will join a world-class team working with leading clients primarily from the digital TV sector. You will rapidly be in contact with senior staff both inside and outside the company. There will be a need to travel, as many of our customers are international. This should be no more than 30% of the time.

Object Oriented Programming / Design. The ability to express your design ideas or to document existing implementations using suitable notations and methods such as UML.

Experience with embedded operating systems such as Linux is Essential , VxWorks or Nucleus would be an advantage.

You will have exceptional problem solving skills and be able to demonstrate by example how you have used these in the context of software integration.

Demonstrable knowledge of Coding, for example C, C++, Java.

Experience and understanding of test instrumentation and bug fix requirements.

Knowledge of CVS, TRAC, Bugzilla, or similar Project tracking tools.

Knowledge of MPEG transport stream processing and decoding & DVB SI

Knowledge and experience of Digital TV industry Middleware and Application solutions such as OpenTV, NDS fusion, MHEG, Media Highway

Knowledge and experience of digital TV industry Conditional Access solutions such as Irdeto, NDS, Connax, Nagra.

Knowledge and experience of Silicon and associated device drivers for digital TV industry such as ST, Broadcom, Connexant.

Knowledge and experience of common embedded tools chains and debug environments such as GDB or Tornado

Experience with low-level APIs and associated stacks (IP, TCP), Knowledge of AV related Internet protocols (RTP)

You will have demonstrable experience over 5-10 years in software development within a real time / embedded project ideally within the Digital TV industry.

You will be able to show a progression of responsibility within your career to date and will be able to describe how you have actively built your skill set to meet new challenges.

You will have been in a position where you have had customer facing responsibility You will have experience of a multi vendor embedded / consumer electronic software integration project ideally with experience of several successful projects. You will be able to demonstrate your specific contribution to these projects.
