Red Embedded are looking to recruit a Senior Consultant / Technologist to fulfil interesting and challenging permanent role.

Our services are structured to include Strategic Research , Design and Development and Integration. You will be capable of operating in any of these areas but it is expected that your primary focus will be involved with Strategic Research working closely with Operators from the UK and around the world.

You will join a world-class team working with leading clients primarily from the Digital TV sector. This is a senior role within the company and you will be required to provide leadership. You will be able to demonstrate that you have the ability to take a leading role in a project and that that you can both build and work effectively as part of a team.

Research & Analysis. You will have the experience of and ability to gather information from a variety of sources, assimilate this and place into the correct context for the client. You will be able demonstrate the use of research skills either through your research based education or via equivalent industrial experience.

Design. You must be able to offer clients solutions. The ability to express your design ideas or to document existing implementations using suitable notations and methods is essential. Your design skills should cover the entire broadcast platform

System / Platform Architecture. You will be able to demonstrate a background in and knowledge of Broadcast or IPTV platforms for Digital TV. You will demonstrate that you have knowledge of key technology and protocols such as DVB SI, MHEG, RTSP, RTP.

Middleware. You will able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of Digital TV industry Middleware and Application solutions such as OpenTV, NDS fusion, Media Highway. You will be able to relate the strengths and weaknesses of different solutions to different applications and platforms. You will have experience and be able to demonstrate knowledge of Free-to-air architectures and have a detailed understanding of at least one solution such as MHEG, MHP OCAP.

Conditional Access. You will able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of Digital TV Conditional Access solutions such as Irdeto, NDS, Connax, Nagra, Latens. You will have both a technical and commercial understanding of this technology

Client Device. You will have knowledge and experience of developing a client device for a Digital TV platform and will be able to discuss in detail current and future feature sets expected on such devices. You will demonstrate knowledge of the hardware and software required to achieve this feature set.

System Integration. You will be able to demonstrate a background in systems integration of Broadcast or IPTV Digital TV platforms or similar experience in a related field. You will be able to demonstrate your understanding of the system integration project life cycle.

Problem Solving. You will have exceptional problem solving skills and be able to demonstrate by example how you have used these in the context of software integration. You will have retained hands-on skills.

Industry Road Map. You will be have a clear understanding of the technology trends and directions in the Digital TV industry. You can demonstrate that you know how these trends will be realized, the problems to overcome and the relative merits of competing solutions.

Commercial Context. You will have demonstrable knowledge of the business dynamics of the Digital TV industry. You will have an understanding of the costs involved in this market place and will be able to speak to development budgets , technology royalty, and key component costs.

You will be an excellent communicator being able to demonstrate the ability to engage with clients at all levels up to executive officer and board level. Your written and verbal communication skills will be world class.

You will have experience in a senior customer facing role. You must be able to demonstrate that in addition to your strong technical communications you have developed skills to negotiate and influence.

You will be able to represent complex issues in a form that can be readily understood by our clients management and executive representatives.

You will be able to demonstrate experience in a leadership role. This could be from leading a group of developers within an organisation or taking a leading role in a industry standards body or open source community. We are equally interested in your leadership experience outside of the workplace.

You will have experience over 5-15 years ideally within the Digital TV industry culminating in a senior role.

You will be able to show a progression of responsibility within your career to date and will be able to describe how you have actively built your skill set to meet new challenges.

You will have been in a position where you have had customer facing responsibility.

You will have experience of a multi vendor embedded / consumer electronic integration project ideally with experience of several successful projects. You will be able to show that you made a specific and significant contribution these projects as a Hardware, or Software Engineer and in a more Senior role looking at both aspects. We would expect to see a progression and demonstration of excellence in a number of ways.
