Red Embedded was founded in 2003 and has grown to over 50 staff who work across a number of areas including an Engineering Consultancy, Embedded Product Design and Tele-Medical Services. The Company is privately owned and is profitable.
We seek technical excellence to work with a world-class team and with clients including the worlds leading operators, Silicon vendors and OEMs primarily from the Digital TV sector. You will be able to demonstrate that you have relevant experience and have acquired knowledge and skills in most of the key sector technologies. You will be working with a growing company with an established reputation.
The successful candidate will :
- Develop and design embedded hardware applications for diverse applications.
- Audit test strategies and test results.
- Validate hardware platforms on behalf of our customers.
- Liaise with customers and suppliers on technical issues.
- Create documentation that can be read by technical and non technical readers.

The Following Skills are desirable
- High speed digital circuit design including memory mapping of peripherals devices, knowledge of impedance matched tracking, bus termination topologies, setup hold criteria, clock circuits, skew, & slew rate criteria and other timing criteria.
- Strong hardware debug ability using high speed oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and other standard test equipment. A good understanding of measurement and calibration issues.
- Knowledge of best practice for designing for EMC, safety, CE, ESD, thermal, shock, vibration, microphony and other standards. In conjunction with best practice: design for manufacturer, design for test and design for cost.
- Familiarity with serial bus architectures including Ethernet, I2C, SPI, I2S, R232, RS485, RS422, DVI, SATA ,HDMI and USB2.
- Understanding of PSU design including switching regulators, LDOs and buck/boost topologies.
- Good communication and documentation skills comfortable liaising with suppliers, customers and colleagues.
- Appreciation of analogue circuit design including op-amps, passive filters, threshold detectors, clamping circuits, regulator circuits, etc.
- Understanding of RF design techniques and familiarity with associated test equipment such as SFU, and spectrum / network analysers.
