Red Embedded have a proven capability to specify, design, develop and introduce complex, high volume product from inception through to manufacture.

Our skills cover all aspects of a product design - be that software, hardware or firmware.  We are able to assist clients who need support to realise a module, subsystem or a full product ready for manufacture.

A successful product is based on a robust design. In turn, a robust design is achieved with a complete understanding of what is expected of the technology to be developed. Our deep experience in the areas of broadcast (Satellite, Cable and Terrestrial) - and IPTV and communications networks means that we can offer assistance that will prove invaluable to companies who need to compete in areas where they do not have the skills, experience or capacity to understand new areas of technology.

Software Development

Software is at the heart of any digital product. There is a plethora of software solutions and Red Embedded have a wide experience of these as well as having the experience of developing a number of our own software stacks. We are well equipped to help architect and then implement the often complex functionality which may be required. We are not in the business of simply providing numbers of software developers, but rather in providing the experience and quality of development service that will prove cost effective. We provide our development expertise together with supplemental management and communication skills which ensure our client's teams are used to the best advantage.

Our service is scalable providing assistance that can range from complete 'turn-key' projects to smaller work-packages such as the addition of specific software modules or features or support with particular roles such as architecture definition, interface specification and management.

Hardware Development

Red Embedded hardware consultants offer a wealth of experience developing cutting edge designs for consumer electronic devices. Our skills cover all aspects of design from baseband through to high speed digital and RF. We are able to design a complete product ready for manufacture or offer sub-system design by working with a number of industry standard schematic capture and layout tools. Our consultants have experience of working directly with the factories and understand the requirements to meet the demanding requirements of high volume production lines (DFM) and the pressures to meet challenging cost targets (DFC).

Our experience and skills extend beyond the electronic design and we are able to provide guidance on mechanical design, materials, aesthetics as well as factors such as thermal properties, dust ingress and environmental issues.

Design Review

Wherever you are in the product life cycle we are able to improve your product and associated services. In the early stages of a project we ensure that the design under consideration has correctly addressed the requirements and make sure that cost of ownership and performance is properly considered. As the project progresses and the implementation matures, we are able to assess if the project is tracking to the original design and assist you to assess and manage any change requests. When a design is complete, the output is measured against the original requirements as part of a product acceptance. Our staff have the experience that is needed in such review activity with experience gained for many product launches. Having performed product acceptance with the most demanding customers in the world, we know the questions to ask.

Our knowledge and skills have a practical edge. In addition to reviewing design documentation we perform hands-on assessment of a hardware or software design. Our activity and skills go beyond the 'consultant's report' with practical services including code review, empirical performance measurement and benchmarking. Project Management

All Red Embedded project managers have extensive experience in working in large split site, multinational development teams. In these high pressure environments they have demonstrated their ability to achieve results within aggressive timescales and budget constraints. We are practised practitioners of current project management techniques and have established tools and procedures that have been proven to provide effective project control and management information flow.

Red Embedded Consulting's Project Audit service provides an independent appraisal of a client's project status. Using our extensive project management experience, our technical experts work within an agreed budget to look at different areas of the project to ensure an audit report which is honest, complete and highlights the issues of management concern - both good and bad. With key issues identified for the current project, the lessons feed into creating successful future projects.

FPGA & ASIC

Increasingly designs require high levels of integration and performance that can only be met by the flexibility offered by FPGA and ASIC technology. Our experiance covers most available FPGA and ASIC tool chains and devices that complement our existing capabilities in high-speed hardware design, DSP, real time and embedded software.

We are able to respond to our customers’ needs with appropriate technology by providing a flexible service. Deliverables can range from providing a design block in VHDL or Verilog, delivering a FPGA or ASIC device into your board design or a fully integrated product.
