Our VPTV range consists of videophone products designed by Red Embedded Design and produced in a set top box form factor. A TV screen is used as the display to view the videophone caller. These products are a mainstream consumer product offer and can also be used to meet niche requirements - products for hospitals, the elderly, particular interest group. The roadmap for future VPTV product development includes a number of the VPHS range’s features. It may also be possible to include VPTV functionality into set top boxes designed for entertainment use. This would enable an operator to add an appealing feature which would be unique in a number of geographic markets.

VPTV 400

The VPTV 400 is a next generation set top box designed for videotelephony and features:

Easy to use user interface
Internal or external camera
Uses TV as display
QVGA H.264 videocalls
Up to D1 video streaming
Snapshots and stills display
Browser option for services such as e-mail, games and more

The product is based on Red Embedded’s innovative VPHS400 and powered by the TI DaVinci processor. It is delivered as a set top box designed to use the TV screen for viewing the videophone picture, and offers a number of variants.

The Joicebox is a version of VPTV 400 designed specifically for the elderly. It has a five button table-top remote control device with speaker and microphone integrated, a one key call facility using picture dialling, and a range of specific features designed to help the elderly and their relatives, friends and carers keep in touch.

VPTV 200

The VPTV 200 is a set top box designed for videotelephony and features:

The product is based on the VPHS generation of videophone product but packaged as a set top box. It uses the TV screen as an option for viewing the videophone picture in where there is sufficient bandwidth to enable adequate picture quality.
